Biography

Babalola Awe, artistically known as Trill Xoe, embarked on his musical production journey at 15, mentored by a senior in secondary school who introduced him to Fruity Loops and imparted foundational production skills. His early musical inclination, nurtured by his role as a church drummer, seamlessly transitioned into crafting remakes of beats for favored tracks, including Chief Keef’s ‘Love Sosa.’

Trill Xoe initially honed his craft within Hip-Hop production, but his academic pursuits in Mauritius broadened his exposure to a rich tapestry of African sounds, thanks to his interaction with peers from across the continent. This, combined with the rise of the 'alte' scene in Nigeria, spurred him to expand his production range.

Influenced by a cadre of renowned producers—Sarz, RZA, Kanye West, Mike Dean, and Travis Scott— Trill Xoe has developed a versatile sound, adept at everything from the pulsating rhythms of South African house beats to the gentle strumming of Afro-beats love tunes. His goal is to be recognized as one of the most versatile African producers in the contemporary music scene.

Further cementing his influence in the music industry, Trill Xoe co-founded 44DB, Nigeria’s leading producer collective. Home to a roster of exceptional talent including Tochi Bedford, KD, Dera, Johnson IP, Veen, and Malik Bawa, 44DB stands at the forefront of nurturing and showcasing the next generation of music production talent.
